Rainy days back in Palawan

Rains are expected over Palawan due to the presence of Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) that currently affects the province, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Meno Mendoza, weather specialist, said Monday that the ITCZ is currently affecting Palawan and the island of Mindanao.

While, in a weather update forwarded by local chief Sonny Pajarilla also Monday, the northeasterly surface wind flow is prevailing over the northern Luzon area, including the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Western Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rains.

The weather bureau is also monitoring a shallow low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) but Mendoza said that PAGASA does not see the chance of the weather system to develop as a tropical depression.

“Moderate to strong winds from northeast will prevail over northern Luzon with moderate to rough seas. Moderate winds from east to northeast prevail over Visayas and the rest of Luzon with moderate seas. Light to moderate winds from northeast to northwest will prevail over Mindanao with slight to moderate seas,” PAGASA stated.
