The Palawan Provincial Board (PB) has passed a resolution urging the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to set up their extension offices in Narra and Brooke’s Point towns.
Board member Ryan Maminta, author of the resolution approved Tuesday, said this will enable residents of Southern Palawan to have an easier time registering their vehicles and securing their drivers’ license.
“The operationalization of LTO extension office in the municipality of Brooke’s Point and Narra would result in the ease of access for those availing the LTO services for licensing and registration,” he pointed out.
In December 2018, President Rodrigo Duterte approved the Republic Act 11157 and Republic Act 11162 authored by former second district Rep. Frederick Abueg establishing extension office in the two towns.
Earlier, Jesus Maria Vitug, LTO regional director said that they plan to establish LTO branches in the municipalities of Narra, Brooke’s Point, and Balabac in the South and set up mobile-automated outlets for Coron, Culion, Cuyo, Dumaran and other far-flung island municipalities located in the North.
The automated outlets can also be used for real-time registration and renewal of licenses just like the services that can be offered by the branches that will be established in the south, Vitug said.
