LPA to enter PAR on Saturday

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) expected to turn into a tropical depression as it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday.

Gener Quitlong, PAGASA weather specialist, said that the LPA could develop into a tropical depression over the weekend.

The LPA was spotted at 1,385 kilometers east and southeast of Mindanao as of 3:00 a.m. on June 20.

The LPA might be named “Dodong” when it becomes a tropical depression but the weather system has not yet affected the country because it is still inside the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).

Dodong could be the fourth tropical depression to enter the Philippines.

The weather bureau said that the ridge of the high-pressure area is being continuously experienced in Luzon which brings the humid temperature and cloudy to partly cloudy skies.

Puerto Princesa will experience a maximum of 33° Celsius for the entire day.
