SanVic council eyes establishment of annual surfing fest

The Sangguniang Bayan of San Vicente is eyeing the establishment of an annual surfing festival in Barangay Alimanguan through a proposed ordinance currently being discussed by its Committee on Tourism.

The proposed “San Vicente Surfing Festival” would be held every January 27 to February 8, with the ordinance also setting rules for its implementation and providing for the corresponding funding.

The proposed measure was discussed during the Committee on Tourism meeting on September 21, led by committee chairperson Melvin C. Ballesteros, with members Rowell C. Molo and Evangeline G. Maagad.

The committee also discussed the provisions that would govern the conduct of the festival and the funding required for its implementation.

The proposed ordinance remains subject to the legislative process before the festival can be formally established as an annual municipal event.
