Health authorities prepare Palawan-wide drive against measles, rubella

Health authorities and local partners are strengthening preparations for a supplemental immunization campaign aimed at protecting more children in Palawan and Puerto Princesa City against measles and rubella.

“Patuloy na hinihikayat ng Department of Health ang pakikiisa ng lahat ng sektor upang matiyak ang mataas na bilang ng mga batang mababakunahan at mapanatiling ligtas at malusog ang bawat komunidad,” the Department of Health (DOH) stated.

The Provincial Department of Health Office (PDOHO) Palawan and DOH-Center for Health Development MIMAROPA brought together government agencies, local government units, and partner organizations for a two-day stakeholders’ advocacy forum in Puerto Princesa City on July 15 and 16.

The forum sought to strengthen coordination and advocacy ahead of the Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity in Palawan and Puerto Princesa.

Participants received updates on the measles and rubella situation and discussed the role of vaccination in preventing both diseases.

The forum also focused on how agencies and partner organizations can help provide correct information and support the campaign’s implementation.

The DOH called on government agencies, local authorities, and other sectors to help reach more children during the campaign.

“Sama-sama nating protektahan ang bawat bata. Magpabakuna laban sa tigdas at rubella!” it added.
