Over 1,500 fisherfolk in Roxas, Palawan to receive financial aid under gov’t assistance program

At least 1,544 registered fisherfolk in Roxas, Palawan are set to receive financial assistance from the government under the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk Program (PAFFP), as distribution activities continue on June 9 to 10.

The payout is being held at the Municipal Dome in Roxas, where beneficiaries are receiving direct cash aid aimed at supporting the fishing sector amid rising costs of fuel, food, fishing equipment, and other basic expenses.

“The PAFFP is bahagi ng patuloy na hakbang ng pamahalaan upang maabot at matulungan ang mga mangingisdang higit na nangangailangan ng suporta sa harap ng mga hamon sa kabuhayan, kabilang ang pagtaas ng presyo ng krudo, pagkain, kagamitan sa pangingisda, at iba pang pangunahing gastusin,” according to the program statement.

Officials said the initiative is intended to provide immediate relief to fisherfolk to help ease daily financial pressures and sustain their livelihoods, which remain a key source of food and income for many Filipino families.

Through the program, beneficiaries are expected to receive direct assistance that will help strengthen their capacity to continue fishing activities despite economic challenges.

For the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) MIMAROPA, the rollout in Roxas reflects the government’s continuing support for the fisheries sector.

“Para sa BFAR MIMAROPA, ang pamamahagi ng tulong sa Roxas, Palawan ay patunay ng patuloy na pakikiisa ng pamahalaan sa sektor ng pangisdaan. Nananatiling prayoridad ng ahensya ang maihatid ang mga programa at serbisyo sa mga komunidad sa baybayin, lalo na sa mga rehistradong mangingisdang nagsisilbing mahalagang katuwang sa pagpapanatili ng seguridad sa pagkain sa rehiyon,” it said.

The two-day distribution is expected to provide significant support to recipients and reinforce efforts to improve livelihood conditions in coastal communities.
