The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Palawan has extended National ID registration services to geographically isolated communities in Puerto Princesa City, reaching residents of Barangay New Panggangan and Barangay Marufinas through mobile operations conducted on April 23 and May 9, 2026.
In a press release dated May 11, 2026, PSA Palawan said the initiative is part of its continuing effort to ensure inclusive access to government identification services, especially for residents in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs).
“Despite the geographic isolation and transportation challenges in reaching the area, the successful conduct of the activity was made possible through the strong collaboration between the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Palawan and the local government units of Barangay New Panggangan and Barangay Marufinas,” the PSA said.
The agency also acknowledged the support of barangay officials, including Barangay Captain Gleceria L. Obenza of New Panggangan and Punong Barangay Crespe V. Cena of Marufinas, citing their assistance in providing boat transportation for registration personnel.
“This support enabled the team to safely navigate and reach the remote coastal communities, ensuring that residents in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs) were given access to National ID registration and related services,” it added.
A total of 344 residents were served during the operations, with 149 successfully registered in the National ID system and 274 issued with paper National IDs, according to PSA data.
The activity also covered vulnerable sectors, including beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and senior citizens.
“The activity reflects the government’s unwavering commitment that no Filipino will be left behind, especially those residing in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA),” the PSA said.
PSA Palawan said it will continue expanding mobile registration efforts across the province to improve National ID coverage and strengthen access to public services.
