Authorities confiscated an illegally used chainsaw during an enforcement operation in El Nido, Palawan on Maundy Thursday, April 1.
Wildlife Enforcement Officers (WEO) and personnel of the District Management Division–North of the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) seized the equipment in Sitio Nasigdan, Barangay Villa Libertad after determining violations of Republic Act No. 9175, or the Chainsaw Act of 2002.
The chainsaw was found to be operating without the required Certificate of Registration and permit from the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD).
According to the report, the operation stemmed from a patrol and monitoring activity conducted by PCSDS following a tip about an ongoing illegal chainsaw operation in the area.
“Muli naming ipinapanawagan sa publiko na agad ipagbigay alam sa aming tanggapan ang anumang masaksihang paglabag sa ating mga batas pangkalikasan,” ayon sa PCSDS.
Authorities urged the public to report environmental law violations and coordinate with PCSDS enforcement teams through their official contact numbers.
