Palawan stays bright and warm as amihan continues

Despite increasingly warm conditions across the province, Palawan continues to experience generally fair weather as the northeast monsoon (amihan) remains the dominant weather system affecting much of the country.

According to the latest weather report from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued at 5:17 a.m., the effects of the amihan are still concentrated over Northern Luzon, where it brings cooler air and rainfall. In Palawan, however, conditions remain partly cloudy to fair, with a low chance of widespread rain.

Residents are still advised to remain alert, as localized or isolated thunderstorms may develop, particularly from afternoon to evening. These rain showers are expected to be brief and intermittent, though they may bring sudden downpours and lightning.

In Puerto Princesa City, temperatures are forecast to range from 24°C to 31°C, contributing to warm and humid conditions, especially around midday. While heat index levels in Palawan are not as extreme as in other parts of the country, authorities warn that prolonged exposure to heat may still lead to heat stress and heat cramps.

The public is encouraged to stay hydrated by drinking at least six to eight glasses of water daily and to limit direct exposure to sunlight whenever possible.

Meanwhile, no tropical cyclones are being monitored within the Philippine Area of Responsibility, and none are expected to develop or enter the country within the next two to three days.

Sea conditions around Palawan remain slight to moderate, with no gale warnings in effect. However, small sea vessels are still advised to exercise caution when venturing out to sea.

Overall, while the country has yet to officially enter the summer season, warm and humid conditions are already being felt in Palawan, even as the amihan continues to influence the broader weather pattern.
