Two remote communities in northern and southern Palawan received solar lighting units under the 59th All-Lights Village project on February 11–12.
Sitio Nanabu in Barangay Caramay, Roxas, and Sitio Cacarigan in Barangay Aramaywan, Narra were given 200 solar lamps and 20 solar street lights as part of the initiative.
The project was carried out through a partnership between the Department of Social Welfare and Development MIMAROPA, through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps, and the Global Peace Foundation Philippines.
Roxas Mayor Pedy Sabando said the project would greatly help the community.
Gerald A. Antonio, SWO IV of 4Ps MIMAROPA, stressed that collaboration with program partners ensures better implementation of DSWD’s goals for families.
Meanwhile, Leonard Faustino, executive director of Global Peace Foundation, said the project goes beyond providing light.
