The Department of Health is encouraging the public to make meditation a regular habit this year to help achieve a calmer and stress-free 2026.
In line with this, the DOH shared five simple tips that individuals can follow when they feel overwhelmed and need what it described as a quick reset.
These include finding a quiet corner and sitting comfortably, setting a timer and meditating for two to five minutes, focusing on each breath, gently returning attention to breathing when other thoughts come in, and ending the session with awareness by taking deep breaths and noticing a sense of calm.
The DOH said this activity can help keep the mind calm, stressing that mental health should remain a priority this year and in the years ahead.
Based on a study and data released by AXA Philippines, a multinational insurance firm that conducts an annual Mind Health survey, seven out of 10 Filipinos experience mild anxiety, stress, and depression.
These cases are most common among individuals aged 18 to 34, with financial difficulties and unemployment seen as major contributing factors.
