Two low pressure areas monitored inside PAR

The state weather bureau reported on Sunday, August 31, that two low-pressure areas (LPAs) are being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The first LPA was spotted 90 kilometers east-northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte. Forecasters said it is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone, though it may still bring rains over Southern Luzon, the Bicol Region, and parts of Eastern Visayas.

The second LPA was last seen 900 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. It also has a low chance of intensifying but will continue to be monitored in the coming days.

“We expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Metro Manila, Bicol Region, Northern Mindanao, Caragas, Buanga Peninsula at malaking bahagi ng Kabisayaan,” Wweather specialist Obet Badrina said,

He said that PAGASA has issued a weather advisory because of the southwest monsoon and the trough of the low-pressure area.

Heavy rains are expected on Sunday in Oriental Mindoro, Antique, Negros Occidental, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Catanduanes, Northern Samar, and Quezon Province.

On Monday, September 1, rains will likely affect Bicol Region, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, Antique, and Aklan. By Tuesday, September 2, Occidental Mindoro will remain under threat of heavy rains.

Cloudy skies and rains are expected in Palawan, with temperatures ranging from 25 to 31 degrees Celsius in Puerto Princesa and the Kalayaan Islands.

“Malaki rin yung tsyansa ng maulang panahon at maulap na kalangitan sa bahagi ng Palawan, dulot ng hanging habagat,” he stated.

This means much of Palawan will experience cloudy skies with rains brought by the southwest monsoon.

Most of the Visayas and Mindanao will also have rains and possible thunderstorms.

For Metro Manila, the temperature will range between 25 and 33 degrees Celsius. In Northern Luzon, Tuguegarao may reach up to 34 degrees Celsius, while Baguio will be cooler at 17 to 24 degrees Celsius.

Coastal waters will be slight to moderate, but stronger waves reaching 1.8 meters are possible in the western section of Luzon.

Looking ahead, rains are expected from Monday to Wednesday across Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Western Visayas, and Central Visayas. By Thursday, most of the country will have fair weather, but thunderstorms remain possible in the afternoon and evening.
