Three young people suddenly collapsed and convulsed along the roadside in New Buncag, Barangay Mandaragat in Puerto Princesa City, around 8 p.m. on Friday, July 19.
Witnesses said the victims had just gotten off a motorcycle in front of a small eatery when they lost balance one after the other. They reportedly showed signs of seizure and began vomiting for reasons not yet known.
Concerned residents called for help. A few minutes later, the Puerto Princesa City Health Emergency Response Operations (HERO) arrived and rushed the three to the Ospital ng Palawan.
According to others who were at the scene, a fourth person was with them but was quickly taken away by someone known to him.
Barangay Mandaragat officials urged the public not to speculate on the incident, especially since authorities have not yet identified the cause.
“Iwasan po natin mag-komento kung di naman natin sigurado. Kasalukuyan napo silang nasa pagamutan kasama ang kani-kanilang pamilya. I-respeto po natin ang biktima, isiguro ang kanilang kaligtasan,” their statement on the barangay’s official Facebook page read.
Police said an investigation is ongoing. The City Health Office is also looking into possible causes of the youths’ sudden collapse and dizziness.
