Two government hospitals under the management of the provincial government of Palawan were upgraded by the Department of Health (DOH) to Level 1.
The two hospitals are the Coron District Hospital in the island municipality of Coron and the Bataraza District Hospital in the municipality of Bataraza.
According to the DOH, a Level 1 hospital has wider and more complete medical facilities and services compared to an infirmary hospital. It has an operating room, labor and delivery room, isolation area, and diagnostic services such as X-ray and ultrasound that will help bring quality health care closer to the Palawan people.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Faye Erika Q. Labrador lauded the management and entire staff of the Coron and Bataraza District Hospital, as well as the local government units, for their continued dedication in providing and improving health services for their constituents.
Currently, residents of Palawan can avail of the medical services from the 16 hospitals that are managed by the provincial government through the Hospital and Health Facility Development & Management Division.
These hospitals are located in the different municipalities of Palawan led by Division Managers May C. Lacao and Provincial Health Officer I Dr. Mary Ann H. Navarro, in partnership with the DOH. (PIA)
