The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)–Provincial Fisheries Office Southern Palawan has donated 50,000 hybrid tilapia fry and fingerlings to the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) for their fish pond on Tuesday, April 22.
The initiative is part of the Tilapia Grow-out Project under the Department of Agriculture and Department of Justice’s Reformation Initiative for Sustainable Environment for Food Security (DA-DOJ RISE Project) for 2025.
The donation also aims to strengthen food production and support the reformation programs of IPPF, which prepare Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) for reintegration into society and a fresh start in life.
The IPPF management expressed gratitude to BFAR for the assistance provided to the facility and its PDLs.
