More heat until weekend due to easterlies

The state weather bureau is not tracking any low pressure area inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), but cautioned that the easterlies are persistently influencing a large section of the country, resulting in warm and humid conditions.

Torres stated that any rain expected will likely consist of brief, isolated thunderstorms occurring in the afternoon or evening.

In the coming days, residents should anticipate further impacts from the easterlies.

In Laoag, temperatures will range from 25 to 32 degrees Celsius. In Tuguegarao, residents can expect hot weather with temperatures possibly reaching up to 36 degrees Celsius. For Baguio, it will be between 18 and 26 degrees Celsius. In Metro Manila, temperatures will range from 27 to 35 degrees Celsius; in Legazpi, from 25 to 32 degrees; and in Tagaytay, it may range from 24 to 33 degrees Celsius.

For the rest of the country, generally fair weather is expected, along with hot and humid conditions in most areas, including Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

However, thunderstorms may occur over the western sections of Mindanao, particularly in the Zamboanga Peninsula, nearby provinces in the Bangsamoro region, and even in parts of SOCCSKSARGEN. These thunderstorms, however, are not expected to last the entire day.

In Palawan, particularly in Puerto Princesa and the Kalayaan Islands, temperatures will range from 26 to 33 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, in the Visayas, Iloilo will have temperatures between 23 and 34 degrees Celsius, while Cebu and Tacloban may experience maximum temperatures of up to 33 degrees Celsius.

For the Mindanao area, in Zamboanga and also in Cagayan de Oro, the maximum temperature may reach up to 32 degrees Celsius. Torres said hot weather is also expected today in Metro Davao, where temperatures could reach as high as 35 degrees Celsius.

As for the heat index forecast, or the “feels-like” temperature expected today, it may range from 41 to 42 degrees Celsius in Metro Manila.

Torres stressed that in these areas, residents should stay hydrated and bring umbrellas if they’re going out of their homes.

There are still no gale warnings or advisories for large waves in any coastal waters across the country.
