Joint forces of the 3rd Marine Brigade (3MBde) and Naval Forces West (Navforwest) conducted a unilateral amphibious exercise at Long Beach in Barangay New Agutaya, San Vicente, on Monday, February 10.
The exercise, which also involved personnel from the Combat Support Brigade, Naval Special Operations Unit, and Joint Special Operations Unit, featured beach clearing and breaching operations, while the 61st Force Reconnaissance Company performed an assault landing operation and close-quarters battle operation.
The exercise sought to improve collaboration, interoperability, and operational preparedness of the involved forces.
It also significantly helped to improve individual knowledge, skills, and attributes (KSAs) linked to warfighting activities, thus enhancing general preparedness, reaction capacity, and decision-making capacity in preparation for next operations.
Philippine Marine Corps Commandant Maj. Gen. Arturo Rojas said the activity, which was the first of its kind, highlighted its importance in testing new capabilities of the Marines and the Navy, particularly in the conduct of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) readiness.
