The weather bureau reported Monday that no low-pressure area (LPA) or tropical cyclone is present within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) or over the Pacific Ocean.
Despite the absence of weather disturbances, PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said three weather systems are still currently affecting the country—the northeast monsoon (amihan), the shearline, and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).
“Ang shearline, inaasahan na naakapekto pa rin sa silangang bahagi ng Southern Luzon. Ang ITCZ, sa ngayon naapektuhan ang Mindanao, pero sa mga susunod ng araw, maaapektuhan na rin ang bahagi ng Visayas. Sa kasalukuyan, wala tayong binabantayan o walang LPA o bagyo sa loob ng ating PAR,” Aurelio said.
The northeast monsoon is bringing cooler winds and cloudy skies to most of Luzon, a condition expected to persist for three more days.
The shearline is affecting the eastern parts of Southern Luzon, including Marinduque, Quezon, and the Bicol Region, causing cloudy skies and rain showers.
The ITCZ is currently affecting Mindanao and is forecast to extend its influence to parts of the Visayas in the coming days, leading to scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
Cloudy skies with rain showers are expected in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, and Aurora, while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience clear weather with chances of isolated light rain.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast for Eastern and Central Visayas, while other areas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers.
Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Caraga, and SOCCSKSARGEN will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of Mindanao will see fair weather with isolated thunderstorms possible.
The northeast monsoon is generating rough seas with wave heights up to five meters in Batanes, Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands), Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan. Fisherfolk and operators of small boats are advised to avoid venturing out to sea in these areas.
