The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stated Wednesday that most of the country will see good weather, with isolated showers forecast in some northern areas.
Pepito has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and is no longer affecting any part of the country, according to PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres.
She said Pepito continues to weaken and is likely to dissipate in the coming days.
“Mapapansin natin na patuloy din po itong humihina at maaaring malusaw yan sa mga susunod na araw,” she said.
The northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, is currently influencing the extreme northern zones, particularly affecting the Batanes area, bringing clouds and potential rain showers. The interaction between the northeast monsoon and the easterlies is creating a shear line that could lead to rainfall in these areas.
Meanwhile, easterlies are affecting the eastern parts of the Philippines, bringing cloud lines that are impacting the extreme northern zones. The forecast suggests that while there are cloud clusters observed in the Palawan area, these are transient and likely to result in isolated thunderstorms only.
PAGASA expects mostly clear skies with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.
No other low-pressure areas or storms are currently being monitored inside or outside the PAR.
Sea travel remains risky, however, with gale warnings in place for the coastal waters of northern Luzon, including Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, where waves could reach heights of up to 3.1 meters.
For the next few days, PAGASA anticipates continued effects from the shear line and northeast monsoon over northern Luzon, while isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected across the rest of the country.
The intertropical convergence zone may start affecting the southern portion of Mindanao by Friday, possibly bringing rain to the Davao region.
