The Palawan Provincial Agriculture Office (PAgO) conducted a two-day ‘Capacity Building Training’ for members of 21 Farmers Organizations (FOs) in Dumaran.
The training, held on August 9, at the Multi-purpose Building, Municipal Sub-Office in Brgy. Danleg, was part of a financial assistance program amounting to P150,000 under the PGP CARES (Corn and Rice Enhancement for Sufficiency) initiative.
This project also aimed to enhance the participants’ knowledge and skills in proper planting techniques, focusing on rice and corn cultivation.
It also sought to strengthen and improve the effectiveness of each farmers’ organization.
Topics covered included values formation, the Magna Carta for Farmers, and COMSCA, with resource speakers from PAgO providing expertise.
An action plan for each group was developed for implementation over the next 6-12 months, accompanied by a pledge of commitment from all participants.
The financial assistance was allocated alongside the inauguration of the Dumaran-Rural Agricultural Center (RAC) on August 4 of last year.
The funds were used to purchase farming equipment, fertilizers, and pesticides essential for high-quality rice and corn production.
