Seven municipalities in Palawan are competing in an inter-municipal beach volleyball tournament that opened April 27 in Port Barton, bringing together athletes in a bid to promote sportsmanship and unity.
Participants include teams from San Vicente, Narra, El Nido, Dumaran, Balabac, Roxas, and Taytay.
The opening ceremony drew local officials, stakeholders, and sports advocates, highlighting continued efforts to strengthen grassroots sports development in the province. San Vicente Mayor Ramir R. Pablico attended the event, while organizers also recognized the support of Governor Amy Roa Alvarez for sports programs.
According to Provincial Sports Officer Rexel Rosauro, the tournament serves a broader purpose beyond competition.
“Ang naturang torneo ay hindi lamang isang kompetisyon kundi isang plataporma para sa pagpapalakas ng disiplina, pakikipagkaisa at pagpapaunlad ng talento ng mga atletang Palaweño,” Rosauro said.
Organizers said the activity aims to foster camaraderie among athletes while providing opportunities to showcase and develop local talent through competitive sports.
