The body of a 69-year-old woman was found floating in a river in Barangay Caramay on Tuesday morning in what police believe to be a case of drowning.
Initial investigation showed that at around 9:30 a.m., two minors who were fishing spotted the cadaver, identified only as “Zara,” lying face down in the water.
The Palawan Police Provincial Office (PalPPO) said the children immediately called nearby residents to help retrieve the body.
One of her daughters told investigators that Zara had the habit of waking up early and was scheduled that day to travel to Puerto Princesa City to process the pension of her deceased spouse.
Responding personnel from the Roxas Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) brought the body to Roxas Medicare Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Police are conducting further investigation into the incident.
