Five policemen and a barangay chairman survived an ambush Tuesday morning suspected to be carried out by members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Pinamalayan town, Oriental Mindoro.

Ruelito Magtibay, PCMS Ivan Fortus, P/Sms Irene Lazo, PCPL Ivy Carmona, Pat. Raquel Genoroso, and Barangay Capt. Noli Dela Cruz of Barangay Palayan, Pinamalayan.

All six were riding a police mobile patrol car when the ambush was carried out by unidentified armed men in Brgy. Pasi 2, Socorro at 7:45 a.m., the report said.

They escaped when the driver of the patrol car was able to speed away from the area which is considered to be a “killing zone”.
