A total of 46 government personnel from various agencies completed a four-day Basic Incident Command System (ICS) training from April 20 to 23 to strengthen disaster response operations in the province.
The training, held in Puerto Princesa City, was led by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) in partnership with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) MIMAROPA. Participants included representatives from PDRRMO, OCD, the Provincial Health Office, Municipal DRRM Offices of Sofronio Española and Narra, and personnel from Western Command.
Organizers said the training focused on a more systematic approach to incident management for both emergency and planned operations.
A simulation exercise capped the training, where participants assumed roles within an Incident Management Team to apply their learnings in realistic disaster scenarios.
The activity forms part of the provincial government’s continuing efforts to build a more resilient disaster response system in line with its goal of ensuring safety and preparedness across Palawan.
