The 3rd Marine Brigade (3MBde) has received more food aid to distribute to frontliners from a major fast-food company in the Philippines and an organization of businesses in the city.

The 3MBde, under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Nestor Herico, received 160 food packs with rice and assorted canned goods, bottled water, biscuits, and coffee products from the Puerto Princesa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PPCCI) on April 3 through Engr. Jusette Cortes.

They were donations from some 13 members of the PPCCI in Puerto Princesa — Teslinque, ARL Construction, Olympic Construction, Jancor, Delta P Inc., Budget Depot, Lim Bigasan, Baby Duff, Avenue Enterprises, Andrew’s Grocery, Gypsy’s Lair, Ana Malijan, and Golraz Enterprises.

More donations received from McDonald’s Philippines for distribution by the 3MBde to frontliners in Puerto Princesa City and Palawan.

Col. Bob Apostol, deputy commander of the brigade, said the food aid will be distributed to the members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) who also serve the frontlines against COVID-19 and are marginalized.

He said there are six CAFGU companies composed of almost 16 detachments in the province.

“There are six CAFGU companies sa buong Palawan so almost 16 detachments yan — napag-usapan namin kung pupuwede mabigyan din sila kasi frontliners din sila, nagqua-quarantine checkpoints din sila,” Apostol said.

On April 4, Golden Arches Development Corp. (Golden Arches), operator of McDonald’s Philippines, sent the second round of donations to the 3MBde as food relief assistance to all frontliners in Palawan.

Capt. Orchie Bobis, the spokesperson of the 3MBde, said the second wave was given to them through the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

McDonald’s donated 3,000 pieces of assorted parts of chicken; 29,000 burger patties; 8,300 burger buns; 1,500 pandesal; and 700 pieces of longanisa.

Bobis said a good Samaritan in the city who wishes to remain anonymous will take care of preserving the food donations and preparing them for distribution to frontliners serving in various quarantine control points in southern and northern Palawan.

“Natutuwa ang 3MBde na ito ay napagkakatiwalaan ng mga donors na maghatid ng relief assistance sa ating mga frontliners ngayong may quarantine. Makakaasa sila na makakarating ito sa mangangailangan na frontliners na walang tigil ang pagse-serbisyo sa gitna ng krisis,” Bobis said.

In March, the brigade also received 5,000 beef burgers and buns donated by the McDonald’s store in Palawan.
