Thirty-two technical-vocational scholars from the SPS Alay sa Kabataan program met with Governor Dennis Socrates in a special event held on August 14 at the Governor’s Conference Room.
The scholars, all women and out-of-school youth aged 18 to 23, come from various municipalities, including Aborlan, Narra, Sofronio Española, Quezon, Brooke’s Point, Balabac, Roxas, San Vicente, and Taytay.
During the meet and greet, Socrates encouraged the scholars to excel in their studies to secure a better future and contribute positively to their communities. The scholars expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to further their education and improve their prospects.
The scholars will undertake a one-year course in Culinary Arts and Restaurant Services at Anihan Technical School in Calamba City, Laguna. The Provincial Government will cover their tuition, accommodation, meals, and transportation expenses.
This batch of 32 scholars is part of the second group of students funded by the provincial government, with a total of 48 scholars at Anihan Technical School. The first batch of 50 students began their studies in January.
The scholarship program, established under Provincial Ordinance No. 3164-A, was signed into law by Governor Socrates on May 3, 2023.
