The Puerto Princesa City government said 249 swimmers joined the PowerDive 2026 Rookie Ripples swim meet held on Saturday, January 10, at the RVM Sports Complex.
The Swim League Philippines, in partnership with the local government, organized the event, according to the city. Participants came from Cebu City, Brooke’s Point, Bataraza, and Puerto Princesa City.
In a message during the opening program, City Sports Head Rocky Austria, who represented Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, said the city allows free use of facilities at the RVM Sports Complex to support sports development.
“Lahat po ng nagagamit na pasilidad dito sa City Sports ay libre. Bagama’t malaki ang maintenance ng swimming pool, malinaw ang direktiba ng ating Mahal na Mayor na unahin ang sports development ng mga taga-Puerto Princesa,” Austria said.
Swim League Philippines president Fred Galang Ancheta thanked the city government for hosting the competition. He also said there are plans to establish a Palawan Aquatic Federation, with Puerto Princesa City being considered as its headquarters.
City Councilor Epitacio Lao Jr. also visited the venue during the competition, the city said.
The city government said it will continue supporting sports programs and hosting competitions to encourage youth participation and strengthen sports development in Puerto Princesa City.
