Authorities seized around 200 containers of diesel in the waters off Barangay Bono-Bono, Bataraza, on September 8, during an anti-smuggling operation.
The operation was carried out by the 2nd Special Operations Unit-Maritime Group in coordination with the Philippine Tobacco Institute, Coast Guard Intelligence Group Palawan, and the Philippine Ports Authority in Brooke’s Point.
According to the report, the diesel was confiscated from two residents of Barangay Marangas who were manning a motorized boat.
When inspected, they failed to present proper documents for the fuel, which was valued at around ₱600,000.
The seized diesel was brought to the PNP Maritime office in Brooke’s Point for documentation.
The two suspects may face charges for violating the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA 10863) and Presidential Decree 1865.
