The Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) has announced it is starting to accept candidate applications for two director positions on its Board.

The vacant slots in the power cooperative’s policy-making Board of Directors are District XI (San Vicente, El Nido and Taytay), and District II (Barangays Mandaragat, San Miguel, San Pedro, San Manuel and San Jose in Puerto Princesa City).

The filing of certificates of candidacy for District XI is February 9 to 19, with elections to be held on February 29.

The filing of certificates of candidacy for District II is February 16 to 26, with elections to be held on March 7.

PALECO explained that only regular members as of December 31, 2019, are allowed to vote during the election.

“Members whose names are inadvertently omitted in the Masterlists of Voters may write the Member Services Department within the prescribed verification period,” according to the statement it released on its social media page.

Interested member-applicants must be a Filipino citizen, between 21 to 70 years old on the date of election. He or she must be an actual resident and member-consumer of the district for the past two years and must be a bachelor’s degree holder.

The member-applicant should have attended at least two annual general membership assembly for the last five years.

The requirements for candidates include a good moral character certification from the barangay and clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Philippine National Police (PNP) or the leader of his or her affiliated religious sector.

The applicant must be a member in good standing and has no unsettled or outstanding obligations to PALECO whether personal or through commercial or industrial connections of which he or she is the owner of co-owner, three months prior to the tine of filing of COC.
