The Palawan provincial government is intensifying its livestock development programs, with at least 176 farmers benefiting from artificial insemination and animal health services in Cuyo and Magsaysay, officials said.
Through the Provincial Veterinary Office (PROVET), the government conducted artificial insemination (AI) under its Artificial Breeding Upgrading Program, alongside deworming, vitamin supplementation, and health monitoring under the Herd Health and Genetics Improvement Program.
Data from PROVET showed that 58 cattle underwent AI, while 410 cattle and goats were dewormed. Seven cows also gave birth during the period covered by the program.
Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Darius Mangcucang said the initiative is aimed at improving livestock productivity and increasing farmers’ income.
The PROVET also continues to monitor the outcomes of artificial insemination efforts from previous years to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the program.
Officials said the initiative supports the province’s broader push to strengthen the agriculture sector and improve the livelihoods of small farmers under the PALAWAN+ PLUS Development Agenda.
