More than 1,700 coconut farmers in Brooke’s Point and Roxas received free medical and livelihood support during the Mobile Health Services and Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) Information Caravan of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) from September 23 to 25.
The PCA said about 900 farmers benefited in Roxas, while more than 800 participated in Brooke’s Point. The event was carried out in partnership with the provincial government of Palawan, which provided coordination and logistics support.
The caravan aimed to improve the health and livelihood of coconut farmers by offering free consultations, laboratory services, and information dissemination on programs that could aid their livelihoods.
Partner agencies included PhilHealth, Department of Health, Department of Trade and Industry, Development Bank of the Philippines, and TESDA, which extended services and information to farmers and their families.
Palawan Gov. Amy Roa Alvarez was represented by 2nd District Board Member Ariston Arzaga and 1st District Board Member Roseller Pineda, who expressed support along with local officials of Brooke’s Point and Roxas.
The PCA said the program will continue in other areas of the province to bring government services closer to coconut farmers and strengthen Palawan’s coconut industry.
