A total of 164 cattle and carabaos in the municipalities of Roxas and Brooke’s Point in Palawan received free artificial insemination (AI) services from the Provincial Veterinary Office (PROVET) as part of efforts to improve livestock production among farmers.
In a press release, PROVET said the activity benefited 118 farmers and forms part of its Herd Health and Genetic Improvement Program, which aims to enhance livestock breeds and increase animal productivity in the province.
“The provision of this service is one of the primary programs of PROVET under the Herd Health and Genetic Improvement Program to improve livestock breeds and increase the production of farmers’ animals,” the press release said.
Aside from artificial insemination, the veterinary team also conducted deworming and vitamin supplementation to support the health and growth of farm animals.
The provincial government said the program is expected to improve livestock health and reproduction rates, which could help farmers increase their income.
