Fourteen cruise ships are expected to visit Puerto Princesa City this year, according to the City Tourism Office (CTO).
Michie Meneses, senior tourism operations officer, said Thursday majority of the visits will be in the first quarter of the year.
“Every month for the first quarter, tatlo ang padating. Sumatotal for this year, for the whole year, meron tayong 14 [cruise ship visits] (Every month for the first quarter, three will arrive) All in all of for this year, for the whole year, we will have 14 cruise ship visits),” she said.
Meneses said the first cruise ship visit this year arrived on January 5.
She added it was the Superstar Virgo whose homeport is Manila.
It was the first tourist ship to dock at the port of Puerto Princesa in 2019.
The arrivals will be packed because it is winter season in other countries, she pointed out.
She said another cruise ship will arrive on January 14, another on the last week of January, and six more in February and March.
“Ang pinakamalaki na darating sa atin ay [may carrying capacity na] almost 2,000, si Queen Elizabeth, sa April siya (The biggest that will arrive here which has a carrying capacity of almost 2,000 is Queen Elizabeth in April),” Meneses said.
