The local government of Bataraza, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Land Registration Authority, awarded land titles to 118 qualified residents during the Handog Titulo Program held on December 3 at the Bataraza Town Center Function Hall.
The initiative is grounded in Act 496 or the Land Registration Act of 1902 and Presidential Decree 1529 or the Property Registration Decree, which outline the process for land ownership registration under the Torrens system.
DENR OIC CENRO and concurrent PASU Renato S. Goneaga led the activity together with representatives from the office of Second District Rep. Jose Chaves Alvarez, the Sangguniang Bayan, the Municipal Assessor’s Office and Mayor Al-shariff W. Ibba.
Ibba said the program strengthens land tenure security in the municipality. He said it helps families avoid ownership disputes and gives them the confidence to improve their livelihood.
The Handog Titulo Program aims to provide residents with legal proof of land ownership. Officials said the titles promote stability in communities and support local development by ensuring clear and documented property rights.
