One person died while another was seriously injured when a motorcycle collided with a Toyota Grandia van in Brgy. Guadalupe, Coron, northern Palawan on Sunday morning.

The fatality was identified as Joy Dagsa dela Peña, 36-years old, from Culion, driver of a black Rusi motorcycle.

His passenger Sammy Planque Vasquez, a 36-year old construction worker, was a native of San Vicente municipality.

The driver of the Toyota Grandia van was also identified as Adronico Salvoro Sarao Jr., 56-years old, single.

A police report said that the Rusi motorcycle driven by Dela Peña was travelling from Brgy. Guadalupe going to the town proper. Upon reaching the place of the incident, the Toyota Grandia being driven by Sarao from the opposite direction allegedly hit the motorcycle.

Both victims were rushed to the Coron District Hospital but Dela Peña was declared dead-on-arrival by Dr. Lianne Denise Tan, attending physician, while Vasquez was transferred to the Culion Sanitarium General Hospital.
