The Yamang Bukid agro-tourism farm celebrated the annual Earth Day on April 22 by planting 1,000 trees with guests and visitors to demonstrate support for environmental conservation and protection in Puerto Princesa City and the province of Palawan.
The tree planting activity was joined too by different government and private organizations, such as members of the Coast Guard District Palawan (CGDP), Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) Station 2, Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS), Palawan Center For Appropriate Rural Technology Inc. (PCART), Western Philippines University (WPU), and others.
The theme of the event held at Sitio Candes III, Barangay Bacungan, was “Nature and Biodiversity Conservation: A Global Responsibility.”

Hezir Rabaya, farm production manager of the Yamang Bukid Farm, said the trees that were planted were provided by the Berong Nickel Corporation (BNC) in Quezon town.
Rabaya said they were mostly Ipil, Narra, and Balayong trees to add to the 500 seedlings they also planted last year with their employees.
He said they will also plant 10 tree seedlings daily in their farm site to contribute to their environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife.
Meanwhile, PCART executive director Laurence Padilla who also represents the private sector in the Regional Development Council (RDC) MIMAROPA Region, was given a certificate of recognition for championing the protection of the environment and for his organic farming advocacy.
The certificate was handed to him by Dr. Jojo Arce, vice president for operations of the Yamang Bukid Health Products, Inc.; Josemar Manalo, assistant vice president for finance of the Yamang Bukid Health Products, Inc., and barangay councilor Daniel Anjan, the general manager of the Yamang Bukid Farm.
Before the closing of the event, the Yamang Bukid Farm management requested its staff to donate small amounts to the bereaved Tesico family, whose mother died in a fire on Good Friday in Barangay San Miguel, and to the other victims who lost their homes.
The amount collected was matched by the Yamang Bukid Farm management for the fire victims.
