Palawan’s three legislators are set to file Monday a bill in the House of Representatives that will put into motion Congress’ deliberations on a proposal to divide Palawan into three provinces.
3rd District Rep. Gil Acosta told Palawan News himself and Reps. Franz “Chickoy” Alvarez (1st district) and Eric Abueg (2nd district) will be co-sponsoring the bill which will be included in the agenda of the lower chamber.
Acosta said the filing of the measure is in compliance with the resolution approved by the provincial government.
“Sa Lunes, formal na po nating ifa-file sa House of Representatives ang utos sa amin ng Provincial Board to divide Palawan into three provinces,” Acosta said.
“Ang pinagmulan ng (bill) ay ang resolusyon that was approved unanimously ng provincial board of Palawan requesting us the three representatives from Palawan to file a bill in Congress to divide Palawan into three provinces,” he added.
He explained that the bill incorporates a plan to create Puerto Princesa City into another province.
Acosta said the main objective of the measure is to speed up development in Palawan by making government services easily accessible to all residents.
“Wala akong nakikitang disadvantage if we divide Palawan into three provinces, puro bentahan sa atin,” he said.
