Female officers of the Naval Forces West (NFW) from the reviewing officer, company commanders down to platoon leaders led Monday its regular flag-raising ceremony in observance of the celebration of the International Women’s Day (IWD).
Lt. Maivi Neri, public affairs officer of the NFW, said in a statement that it was in compliance with their higher headquarter’s directive to observe the International Women’s Day celebrated every March 8 of the year around the world.

“As a Gender Awareness and Development (GAD)-compliant organization, this effort intends to highlight the equal opportunity for women in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP),” said the statement from the NFW.
The IWD 2020’s United Nation’s theme is “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”.
Monday’s flag-raising was highlighted by the donning of the rank of newly-promoted chief of staff, NFW Capt. Jeff Rene Nadugo. It was the command’s gesture of honoring him for his well-deserved promotion.
