Some 90 youth leaders gathered at Camp General Artemio Ricarte headquarters Wednesday for the Youth Leadership Summit hosted by the Western Command (WESCOM), Wednesday.

WESCOM said on its Facebook page that 90 young leaders and student council officers from 29 different secondary schools in Puerto Princesa attended the summit.

The theme of the summit was: “Palaweño Youth Leaders: Called, Empowered and Builders of our Nation”.

The youth went through training which is similar to military training in a boot camp.

Activities include developing and creating their own projects, an advocacy campaign and creating awareness about New People’s Army exploitation and recruitment among youth and countering violence.

The activity was made possible by the WESCOM through the Joint Task Force Peacock in Partnership with the Schools Division of Puerto Princesa and Pinag-isang Lakas ng Kabataang Lider ng Palawan (PIGLAS-Palawan).

The activity was conducted in relation to President Duterte’s Executive Order Number 70 (Institutionalizing the Whole-of-Nation Approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace, creating a National Task Force to End Local Armed Conflict, and directing the adoption of a National Peace Framework).
