Over 2,500 personal protective equipment (PPE) supplies were donated Tuesday by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) to the Ospital ng Palawan (ONP) to support its frontliners against COVID-19.
The donation of 60 PPE sets; around 200 gloves; 2,000 safety masks, and 300 goggles were made possible through the help of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic chief Col. Edison “Bong” Nebrija.
They were received on June 9 by ONP director Dr. Melecio Dy from Cpt. Jayson Ramon, representative of WESCOM.
“Very important yong PPE kasi that’s the way we protect our health workers. Alam naman natin na ang isa sa mga madaling mahawa mga health workers kasi kasama sa frontliners. With the use of these PPE supplies, they will prevent us from getting yong COVID infection if ever merong pasyente,” Dr. Dy said.
“Alam naman natin gobyerno kami at may provision ng logistic supply, pero ang PPE kasi magastos kasi sa araw-araw na nagpapalit ka. In a single day kung susundin namin yong ideal na standard, uubos kami ng 100 PPE sets in a day,” he added.
Dr. Dy said non-government organizations like the FFCCCII are significant because they are doing their part, their effort in providing the supplies to medical frontliners.
The ONP is the only hospital in MIMAROPA region accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) to operate a COVID-19 testing laboratory using its GeneXpert machine.
