The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Puerto Princesa City will hold satellite voter registration at SM City Puerto Princesa on July 30-31, 2021.

The effort is part of COMELEC’s attempt to offer a more convenient and accessible location for voter registration for the May 2022 national and municipal elections, according to a statement released by SM City Puerto Princesa.

“Our aim is to give the public an accessible and efficient registration experience and provide alternative satellite registration sites by opening registration booths in malls,” COMELEC spokesperson James Jimenez said in a statement.

Registrants should provide an original and photocopy of their birth certificate, as well as a legitimate government identity card (ID) with photos and signatures. They should provide evidence of residency or billing statements, such as water or energy bills, if their address is not shown on their ID, the statement said.

“Applicants will be able to submit their forms and documentary requirements and have their biometrics data taken in the comfort and convenience of mall spaces,” Jimenez said.

In consideration of mall hours, the satellite registration site in SM City Puerto Princesa will accept a limited number of applicants from 9AM to 5PM. Only applications from residents of Puerto Princesa City, or from those intending to transfer their registration record to the City, will be accommodated.

SM City Puerto Princesa and the Comelec remind everyone to observe health protocols in the venue such as wearing of face masks, face shields and social distancing.
