Vehicular accidents top Narra’s recorded incidents during the first half of 2019, according to the Narra Municipal Police Station (MPS).
Data showed a total of 68 incidents were reported for the period in Narra MPS where 42 of these were vehicular accidents.
Of the 42, five are incidents of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, 36 reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury and one damage to property.
In an interview with Palawan News, newly-appointed Narra MPS officer-in-charge P/Maj. Carlito Valdez said that Narra can be considered as a peaceful community but the number of vehicular accidents is alarming.
Because of the high incidents, Valdez held a dialogue with Mayor Gerandy Danao and the local task force to address the problem.
Valdez said that a public hearing will be conducted with owners of undocumented tricycle drivers, motorists and even companies that sell motorcycles without asking for driver’s license and other important documents.
He also said that they are also monitoring commercial vans that have no terminal and causes traffic.
“We also started to conduct checkpoints to ensure that drivers should comply with necessary documents,” he said.
Valdez said that he received “marching orders” from the provincial police director and the mayor to arrest “colorum” tricycles.
