Two more low-pressure area (LPA) systems can be expected before the year ends, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Local PAGASA chief Sonny Pajarilla said Monday that based on their statistics, one to two more weather systems can be expected to develop into LPAs this December.
“Wala tayong hinihintay, pero statistically may isa hanggang dalawang bagyong namumuo kapag buwan ng Disyembre. Si bagyong Tisoy nabuo ‘yon November 30 pa kaya hindi pa siya pasok sa statistics ng Disyembre. Bago matapos ang taon, we still expect na isa [o dalawa pa],” he said.
“Medyo clear tayo, wala tayo so far this week pero bago matapos ang taon, alalahanin natin na ang Vinta ay December 23, ibig sabihin, bago natatapos ‘yong taon. ‘Yong Ruby noon ay ganoon din ang petsa. Mga New Year na, nagbabantay pa rin tayo,” he said.
Pajarilla said that fair weather can still be expected within the week.
He said that the northeasterly wind or amihan is currently prevailing and its intensity has an effect on the sea condition.
“Sa ngayon wala tayong weather disturbance na makakaapekto, medyo malakas lang ‘yong Amihan natin kaya itong mga manlalayag patungong Cuyo, medyo ibayong pag-iingat, malakas lang ‘yong alon dito. Walang gale warning dito pero mag-ingat, ‘yong lusot ng malakas na amihan dito sa Bicol region ay nagdadala ‘yan ng malakas na alon,” he said.
Palawan could experience partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms in the afternoon.
