(UPDATED) A boat transporting tourists in Honda Bay rolled over its side Thursday in the waters between Luli and Bat Islands.

Coast Guard District Palawan (CGDP) spokesperson Lieutenant Commander Christian Jazmin said five local tourists, mostly from Quezon City and two boat crew, were aboard “Mark Grace I” boat.

Jazmin said the boat keeled over due to a sudden violent gust of wind.

“Tumaob ‘yong isang tourist boat natin doon dahil sa biglang lumakas ‘yong hangin wala namang gale warning subasko lang and then ‘yon nga agaran namang nailigtas ang mga kababayan natin,” he said.

“Subasko po tawag diyan, biglaang lumalakas ‘yong hangin hindi naman po madalas mangyari ‘yan, actually, ngayon lang nangyari ‘yan. Nakahanda naman ang Coast Guard sa ganyang mga pangyayari,” Jazmin added.

Jazmin said the incident was reported to their substation in Honda Bay at 12 p.m. and the rescued passengers were brought to the wharf at 2 p.m.

Jazmin was not able to give the names of the passengers but confirmed that all of them are in good condition.
