Three COVID-19 patients under the “suspect” category have died in Palawan, bringing the total number of casualties in the province to 38.

Richard Ligad, chief of City Information Office (CIO), in a Facebook announcement late Wednesday, said that out of the three deceased suspect COVID-19 patients, one was from an urban barangay in Puerto Princesa City.

“May isang suspect na naman tayong pumanaw kanina (Wednesday). Na-swab test din ito, male, 50 to 55 years old, urban barangay. May mga iba rin siyang karamdaman,” Ligad said.

The patient profile of the other two deceased patients were yet to be disclosed.

Palawan is currently monitoring a total of 64 COVID-19 patients, 56 of whom were under the “suspect” category while eight were considered “probable”, based on the bulletin issued by the Center for Health Development (CHD-MIMAROPA) as of 3 p.m., Wednesday (May 20).

Both the province and the city have a combined 30 suspect cases still awaiting test results from the DOH laboratories in Manila. Succeeding tests are expected to be done locally by the Ospital ng Palawan, with the recent completion of its GenExpert-based COVID-19 testing laboratory.
