Three fishermen were nabbed by police authorities for alleged illegal fishing using a compressor within the municipal waters of Araceli town recently.

P/Capt. Ric Ramos, spokesperson of the Palawan Provincial Police Office (PPO), identified the fishermen arrested on Octoas Andy Balila Tinagsa, 36, the boat captain; Mark Manlapas Toledo, 35, and Jomar Alcantara Habibon, 25, all residents of Barangay Madoldolon in the same town.

Ramos disclosed that joint personnel of Araceli Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the town’s Bantay Dagat caught them using the compressor while on seaborne patrol within the waters of Era Reef, Brgy. San Jose.

Confiscated from them were an air compressor engine, a compressor tank, two rolls of a hose and six pieces of plastic flippers.

The compressor is said as breathing apparatus in gathering marine products off the reef.
