All tours in Underground River in Barangay Cabayugan are canceled due to rough sea conditions and heavy rains brought by tropical depression “Marilyn” that entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Elizabeth Maclang, park superintendent, said that rough sea condition forced them to cancel the tours as also advised by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
The Jungle Trail, which is a 3.56-kilometer trek to the world-famous tourism site, was also closed to the public because large branches of trees fell on the trekking path, Maclang said.
“Abrupt cancellation of PPUR tour as per advice ng Coast Guard dahil sa sama ng panahon at dahil zero visibility na. Kahit ang jungle trail ay hindi na puwede, our apologies to everyone,” Maclang said in a statement.
Maclang said it will be unsafe for the tourists and boatmen to sail because of the bad weather condition.
“Magiging unsafe ‘yon sa ating mga turista kaya nag-desisyon na i-cut-off na. Based on the evaluation ng ating authorities at mga bangkero na talagang hindi kakayanin,” she said.
She added they will keep the public and tourists posted by giving notice to different travel agencies.
