Local authorities intercepted Saturday night some 1,162.87 board feet of illegally cut nato and apitong lumber being transported in two motorized in Sitio Binaluan, Barangay Liminangcong, Taytay.

Voltaire delos Angeles, forest technician and team leader of the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office Quick Response Team (CENRO QRT) in Taytay, told Palawan News that some of the illegally cut lumber pieces were supposed to be transported to Brgy. Bebeladan in El Nido.

Delos Angeles said suspects Dalmacio Villaseran, Jesus Tabangay, and Luzviminda Tabangay have been taken under custody for violation of forestry laws against illegal logging.

Seized from Villaseran were 593 board feet of apitong and from the Tabangays 569.87 board feet of nato.

All the suspects who are residents of the same sitio were apprehended during their seaborne patrol, he said.

He said the lumber supply from Villaseran was supposed to be delivered to KV Hardware to a certain Saya Roda while those from the Tabangays were supposed to be transported to Sitio Kiminawit, Bebeladan, El Nido allegedly to Luminado Ibañez.
