Six persons were hurt when a passenger van fell off the edge of the national road and landed on a shallow ravine before the Calategas Bridge in Barangay Calategas, Narra.

A police report said the vehicle marked “Leonard” is registered under the name of Eugene Ayod, former vice mayor of Quezon town.

It was being driven by Larry Miranda from the municipality to Puerto Princesa City, the report sent by P/Capt. Ric Ramos, the spokesperson of the Palawan Provincial Police Office (PPO), said.

The injured passengers were identified as,  Lucila Arellano Penoblar, 52; Carlita Lumanglas Viray, 60; Erma Bautista Paulo, 49; Mercilina Ladjiman Tomel, 44; daycare worker, and Bita Ramsa Dampas, 50.

The driver reportedly lost control of the steering wheel after reaching a slippery portion of the national road.

Based on witnesses’ accounts, the van rotated three times before it fell off the edge of the road.
