Ex-Officio member Clarito Demaala IV of the Provincial Board proposed a resolution Tuesday urgung local government units (LGUs) and schools in Palawan to establish self-defense classes for women and youth.
Demaala said learning self-defense will not only benefit their personal safety but also their physical health as it is a form of exercise.
He added it will veer the youth away from harmful vice such as drinking alcohol, and illegal drugs use.
“Being prepared against crime would also result to decrease of crime rates in the province, and the healthier and more productive constituents which could help for the further development of Palawan as a whole,” he said.
Demaala added sexual harassment and assault, holdup, robbery and other similar crimes may happen anywhere. Being aware of self-defense will also help lessen the crime incidence rate.
